I used this technique for my Tonquedec castle.

III.
After that I thought of using this piece:

and came up with the largest version,
and in my opinion with a very decent kind of church window,
easily filled with trans-plates to make the impression
of stained glass windows:

I really like those windows. I tried also to use the 8x8 plate, but I didn't
like the 2x2 square in the middle. You find a very good way to mask it.
