PS, as far as the train wagon plates go, I’ve started to think that they might not make bad large flat roofs, with a little covering of their holes and cutouts. They’ve got good span/coverage when used in multiples. Has anyone tried that? I’ve got a stack of them from parting out various My Own Train sets that I would love to find a use for.

You could strategically place roof details like chimneys, air vents and the like to cover the holes and cutouts for a flat roof. The other good thing about the train plates is that you could remove the whole floor section easily. The downside is that you can’t have any stairs from one floor to the next.
