The Bricksmith fairy has come again, with a shiny new upgrade to put that special sparkle in your Macintosh LDraw experience.

Bricksmith 1.2 adds the following features:
  • Speed increases of up to 33%
  • Search in the Part Browser
  • Hide/show parts
  • Previews in the Piece Count utility
It also fixes the following bugs:
  • Rotating multiple parts works correctly
  • Snap To Grid issues fixed
  • Revert works

Several Lego fans requested speed improvements when I first unveiled this program, so I’m happy to start delivering them. Bricksmith is now faster than Mac Brick CAD 2.4, though there is certainly still room for improvement.

I also received several requests for a search field in the part browser, which are now fulfilled. Bricksmith’s search may not be Google, but it is a handy thing around. Beware, however, that it performs literal searches, which are sometimes befouled by the excess whitespace in many LDraw part descriptions.

As usual, I would very much appreciate feedback from the “serious” Lego community.

Bricksmith requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later, and may be download it at http://bricksmith.sourceforge.net/.

Sincerely,
Allen Smith
