While looking at the vignettes, I noticed that the Jedi Temple vignette extended
by a lot more than 4 studs in width.  3 on each side makes 6, not 4.  Was 4
studs a limit for the total or for each side?  Here's the rule:

3. Your vignette must have a maximum base-size of 8x8 studs... with no height
limitation. Parts can extend beyond the base, but not by more than 4 studs.

Also, I was wondeing to what extent we can consider the pillars in this MOC an
extension and not part of the bse itself.  It's unfortunate that I have to ask
these questions about a vignette poart of a contest in which I participate, for
my intervention is not meant to increase my chances of winning by disqualifying
another participant.  But I ran into problems when building my vignette and I
interpreted the 4 studs extension limit as parts that were not part of a
structure like a staircase (Photo Finish), a column (Jedi Temple) or an
electricity post (Birds).  If a part of the structure extends, it shouldn't be
one stud higher than the base, which is clearly a way to bypass a rule, but in a
way where we can clearly see that it's not a clever interpretation, like "Ahoy
There".  The "Joe Runner" vignette raises a new dilemma.  What is the base?  I'd
say it's the extreme lower layer.  If my interpretation is correct, then is
Janey's very nice vig legal since the lower layer extends to more than 8 x 8?
"Buster Joe" and my vignette also could be considered more than 8x8 if you
consider the moving parts as extensions when they are lowered (the house is way
longer than 4 studs and the prison bars too!)

I raise all these points because to me, rules in a contest are importants.  They
must be clear, precise and there should be guidelines about these issues.  I
consider all the above as legal in the current contest because the rules were
stated in a way that we could all interpret them.  This intervention is mostly
about the future contests, if any, in the vignette world.

"2 Hots and a cot" has 5 pics, the limit was 4.  What should be the penalty for
not respecting this rule?  The rule is clear enough here:
7. A maximum of 4 pics per entry will be allowed. (If you show more than 4
images, you will be disqualified.)

"A grave Situation" and "Joe and Jonesy" aren't hosted on Brickshelf.  Here's
the rule:
5. Images must be hosted on Brickshelf or other websites, not on LUGNET. Here
however, no penalty was announced for those who wouldn't respect that rule.  We
could assume it's the same rule as for the 4 pics limit.

So as you can see, rules are important, but respecting the rules is also
important.  To make sure the rules are respected, the curators have the duty to
making sure the rules are respected by disqualifying those who don't follow the
rules.

I know lots of people will see this as an attempt by myself to eliminate some
strong contestants in the contest to have a better chance of winning.  I don not
consider I have built a good enough vignette to beat "Trouble in the Ten Items
Or Less Lane" by Chris Doyle and "Getting a Milkshake" by Michael Jasper, to
name only two.  No, my intentions are only to make sure that the rules are
respected, as I've organized contests in the past and I've always taken the
dirty role of policing the rules.

That being said, let's see what the curators do from here.  I have faith in
them, they will do the correct thing.
