These are great models. I suspect these were tougher to build than
they might look due to the angle and slant of the fisherman.
|
Thanks, Spencer! Yes, the angle did make it a bit more challenging... Im not
happy with how some parts came out (his extended arm is a little stiff looking)
but overall I think everything mostly works. Theres almost nothing symmetrical
in this model (other than some parts of his head) which makes it take longer to
design, but I think it gives the final model a more human feel.
|
Im curious how you replicated them. Did you build a prototype and then
dismantle it brick-by-brick while copying each part as you went along?
|
Yes, I did build a full-sized prototype first. But then, leaving it assembled,
I set it aside and duplicated it by visual inspection. (Usually involving lots
of counting and crosseyed-headaches.) :) After I had one glued model, I was
able to rotate & lift it easier, so I used that one as the final template for
the remaining 7 models. For those, I built them assembly line style, first
building 4 at once in parallel, and then 3 at once in parallel. (I probably
would have done all 7 in parallel, but I didnt have enough space on my
workbench.)
