I have to agree. I'd like to see a German/Bavarian with lederhosen and the right
hat.
Talking about that, a Frenchman would be easy to do. For other nationalities I
dont know how easy they are to make.
Also, using some star wars "hood" it is possible to make a monk, a fransiscaner.

Hi
Is there a list of barcodes of these series, so I can pick those I want, avoid
those I do not want?

By a quick count at BrickLink, I found 235 iffy minifigs-- But I knowingly
skipped Fabuland, Jack Stone, Technic, Belville, Scala, Galidor, and
Bionicle. Knowing the above, Id guess itd be in the ballpark of 300-500
borderline minifigs?

Would you be interested in collaborating in this project?

Yes and no-- Im not in Europe, but Id of course be happy to see such an
endeavor, especially if the logistics are handled well. For instance, will
they be kept in a searchable online database? How will they relate back to
years of release and sets? How will it be maintained going forward? Will it
denote differences in part variation (like hollow/solid stud head, torso
design, arm design, etc)?
Ive got an extensive collection, although its not overly distinctive from
other peoples in Europe. Im sure its easier for you to find (say)
BlackTron figures or ResQ figures in Europe. I expect my value added would be
in the few special minifigs I own, like the Red Sox promotional figure
pictured above.
Do you have a catalog of missing figures that you KNOW are missing, and/or
a catalog of figures that you already have?

You are right, it is easier to try to find collectors in Europe and I am working
hard on it. Maybe you know some as well? I will try to call one in NL on Monday
and I will know more. Thank you for your offer to contribute specific figures! I
will come back to it!

The Hot Zone: LEGO Collectible MiniFigures Presentation
If you were not able to make it to BrickCon 2010 in

Out of curiosity, how are you defining a minifigure? There are a lot of
things that are sort-of minifigs:
Personally, I drew a hard-and-fast line by saying that in order to be a
minifig, it had to have a minifig torso (yes, thereby eliminating skeletons
and LOM aliens and so forth as minifigs).
Also, are you looking to take into consideration other promotional
minifigures?

Hello,
We are working on an Minifigure identification software here at the Eindhoven
University of Technology. I have a keen interest in developing a taxonomy of
Lego Minifigures and within the framework of this project I am trying to take
photos of all figures ever produced by Lego. We would like to offer our services
to Minifigure collectors: We will visit you and take professional photographs of
your figures. You will receive a free copies of all photos. Of course we would
prefer collectors from Europe, since this would make the traveling much easier.
Alternatively, you cold also send us figures and we photograph them in our photo
studio.
Some example pictures are available here:
http://www.bartneck.de/2010/10/08/lego-minifigures/
Please let me know you may be interested and do not hesitate to ask me any
questions you might have.
Best regards,
Christoph Bartneck

Ive always likes James Howses idea of Russian hats made from old style

(Historical note: the use of tyres as hats dates back to at least 1975.)

Bob,
It was constructed with RTV Silicon Molds. Took a while to design the molds to
keep all the interior spaces and only have 2 part molds for each part, but that
was my goal. I really undertook the project to help teach myself a bit more
about mold making. If you want a detailed process I will be covering this topic
in a article for BrickJournal in the near future.

This is really cool! The trans fig can also be used for Tron figs, if
underlit...or if they were compatible with LEGO minifig parts, there could be a
Star Trek transporter effect done with a blinky light.

I actually built this figure. So I placed in the catagories where I thought
it belonged.

From what I took from this post:
http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=3809,
MOCs should not be placed in the lugnet.announce group, but just in the
lugnet.announce.moc group like you did. Im afraid that Im not seeing any
resemblance to Obi-wan, but that may just be because I dont grok Star Wars Lego
much :^)
BTW, how was this made? What did you use for the molds? Ive seen Lego bricks
used to make the walls of the mold when plastic modelers cast resin parts for
instance.
