A very cool vignette--poignant and effective, with an economy of bricks. I like the tree, and I like the overall staging.

Forgive a dumb question, but I’m not really up on LEGO releases of late: are those helmets and rifles official? And what is the stick-element used as a grave marker?

No, they've never done any sort of modern military helmet, and there are currently only six recent detailed modern/future weapons (SW blaster, SW rifle, SW pistol, tommygun, short barrel semi-auto, and long-barrel semi-auto). The figures helmets and rifles are from Brickarms. Not sure of the name of the piece holding the rifle but I've got loads of 'em. Dr. S. (16 years ago, 17-Aug-08, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)
