Hi Magnus,
Indeed, camouflage is harder to do on a small model with complex shapes. Large
flat areas are relatively easy. In that case limiting the number of colours is a
good idea. That simplifies matters somewhat.
I agree that certain parts only being available either in the newer or older
greys is an issue. I keep running into that as well. I'd love to build a Tomcat
in overall grey. I already have two Tomcats in LEGO and both use old and new
parts (in black and in white, respectively). I can't get all the parts I need to
build one in bley or in old grey, unless I am willing to redesign the model to
adjust to the parts that I can get.
