The lugnet.build.mecha News Group Reader User Guide has been completed.

News Group User Guide

The goal of the User Guide is to familiarize new and current readers with the norms found in this newsgroup.

Tips on posting, tips on Mecha building, resources and more. The goal in part was not to replicate the Main User Guide for LUGNET, but rather be specific for this newsgroup to answer issues and bring to light some of the common techniques used and the thoughts behind the genre.

The User Guide will include some parts library links in the future.

For now the main body text is completed.

The User Guide covers these topics on key main pages:

With a link to....

I tried to address the issues Mecha Buiders are challanged by from my 20 years plus experience in this building genre. Also through my many years answering questions via email and during contact with other builders.

See the credits page to see who helped and supported this project.

During my time here on LUGNET, I have read that some people would like to read more in depth information of Mecha Design and real building hints and tutorials. To that end, I created these sets of pages to help address those desires.

I hope you and more, find these pages helpful. Where the writing gets thick, like in the What is Mecha Section, read carefully. If you skim, your really not going to get where I am comming from. I tried not to be verbose. Still a proper explaination in certain areas is important to convey the knowledge I hope to pass on.

Admittedly, these pages are just overviews and open to interpretation. I feel confident I was able to address the main issues while being open to alternate ways of doing things.

If you feel you have something to contribute to the User Guide, please by all means, speak up.

Keep in mind this is not meant to act as an overall user guide, but rather as an introduction to the building genre.

You can find the Link to the lugnet.build.mecha User Guide on the left side of the main build.mecha page. The side bar contains the link midway down on the page.
