Very nice work. If you've seen my work you know I'm a fan of glass. Now if • we
could just get it in all the colors we want, in bulk...
Thanks.  Actually, it was some of your excellent, recent building that got
me into the mood of making another "glass" building.  Out of curiosity, when
I build real "glass" buildings (with the 1x4x3 thin-walls), I tend to have
problems with flex when I go more than 4 thin-walls high.  I usually have to
insert a beam or something.  I noticed that you use very high sections
without apparent support.  Have you had the "flex" problem, and, if so, how
did you deal with it?

I would just love to get more Paradisa bubble windows (and the big Breezeway
cafe ones) in bulk, but I don't see that happening soon.  Apparently,
Paradisa didn't do so well.  I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole when
they were out, because I thought that they were too "girly."  Only now do I
see the coolness of their parts.

The "up" shot is bizarre. You've got the reflectivity set high in all • these
shots. Is that in keeping with the liquid theme or is there some utility • to it
in rendering?

Actually, I didn't do anything special to get that reflectivity.  POV-Ray
does it by default.  I use MLCAD to draw the building, L3P (fronted with
L3PAO) to convert to POV-Ray format, and POV-Ray to render it.

The only option about which I am aware is to turn of reflection and
refraction by setting the quality setting to 1.  I use this to preview shots
since it can improve performance by about 10 or 20 times (literally).  That
"up" shot took about 2 hours to render at the "normal" quality using my
P450.

(...) Thanks :-) (...) I call it the "curl" problem, and yes, I have it in spades. The GATS Church actually takes advantage of it in the curved walls. All the other glass walls that are more than a few panels in size are supported somehow. In the (...) (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.build.arch)
