Hmm... Pun? I guess I missed it.. Or is this another Canadian thing? :)

here in canada, there is a furniture chain called “the brick”. ottawa is a quasi-bilingual city. as you might have guessed, in french, “brique” also means brick. the pun she may also have been referring to was the “herd” of cows - pictures yet to be posted.

The Dining Set reminds me of IKEA (Swedish warehousy-type furniture stores here in the US). I love IKEA, but not necessarily for the furniture - I love the goofy names everything has (“I’ll take the oak BUMBOOLSVEE with a pair of side OOMLORTS please”). Oh yeah, and I can eat the meatballs all day!

Darrell

we also have ikea, hence the swedish/danish looking furniture. they also have a great almond/marzipan cake.

ps: I just found your recliners.. Great use of Racers winged parts to get those curves! May I ask - did you design the shape of your furniture first and THEN search for parts to create those shapes, or did you look at the parts and think, “What can I make with this” or “This looks like a cushion, etc.“?

i could never be that organized - design first then buy? mostly i look at a piece & come up with ideas. occasionally i’m presented with a challenge when a piece comes up in a draft - technic, what’s that good for? - & then i’m driven to find a good use for it. hence the side/headboard on the child’s bed.

hope this inspires your students to think outside the brick, er, box.
