I really enjoyed this post about mosaic kits and a LEGO sliding puzzle design:

http://news.lugnet.com/announce/moc/?n=3647

I started working on a slightly larger sliding puzzle design which completely covers a standard square green baseplate. The image I’m using on the puzzle will have to wait for a future posting.

In the mean time I wanted to make some smaller sliding puzzles, but the 6 x 6 module doesn’t allow many puzzle pieces for smaller versions. After experimenting with several overly complicated ideas, I realized there was a simple way to construct a 4 x 4 module.

The design seems to work well, and it keeps the part count down to a reasonable level. The slotted bricks are only used on two sides of the frame, and not on the sliding pieces. The other two sides of the frame (not pictured in the sample) use plates with rails.

Keep building!
