Hidey-ho[1] there,

I read Frank's Belville reviews and it finally dawned on me that these
confabulations of pink might actually contain useful parts[2].  But I
have a couple of questions...

1) Is Princess Rosalind really wearing an Aquazone crystal on her head?
It sure looks that way in the catalog...

No, it's more crown shaped, and has a tiny pin on the bottom which fits
into the hole all the Belville figures have on the top of their head
(this pin is the same size as the pin on the 3 pronged flower stems).

2) Do trans-grey (smoke) gems exist in Belville? (Or anywhere else?)

Haven't seen one yet.

3) Are there kittens of other colors than white and tiger-striped?

Black (available in at least 5571 Giant Truck, 2872 Witch's Fireplace,
3110 Four Animal Friends).

4) How big are the carrots and such compared to a minifig?[3]

The orange part of the carrots are about 2 bricks long, with a separate
green stem almost as long. The bottom of the carrot is a rod, and the
stem is a rod, fitting into a rod hole on the top of the carrot.

5) Are the flowers on the garland in 5824 the same as normal 'system'
flowers? i.e. do they fit on the little three-stem 'flower' pieces?

Yes.

6) Are the fancy pillars in 5824 connected at the top, or are they 4
        separate pieces? [4]

The fancy pillars are two pieces (which is a little limiting, but still
useable, the first place I saw them was in the table in 5805 Princess
Rosaline's Room, where they make a 4x6 table, however they look quite
nice in 5824).

[4] - I'm assuming that the white fencelike object below is the same
as the odd fence that was in the DACTA castle set in red...

Yes.
