Well cats out of the bag, better show what Im also working on now so we do not
have more over lap.
Im working on GOOGLEGO.info website. Basically anything LEGO related, show,
events, clubs, challenges, media, leagues, and more would be listed and placed
on a Google map with custom icons.
The end result would have anyone with something LEGO to add to send an email to
my websites server. The server would then take this formatted form based email
and dynamically create web entries of this info. From then it would use an API
to update Google. The only real work would be reformatting any artwork or logos
to fit layouts.
In the end once it is all set up it would be available to anyone to access and
make updates and changes with a login.
GOOGLEGO.info would be searchable, and organized by the categories.
Any new info would be at top of blog.
Was going to use Googles calendar also..
Slideshows and more, check out site and see, still in beta, adding stuff daily,
Menu is not yet hooked up with blog yet so it is just there for looks now. But
it gives you the idea of the plan of the site. Was not going to post until fully
functional but here it is in beta1.
Right now its just a few of us that are working on it, but anyone that wants to
help, email me at mike@googlego.info

Hi Mike,
Very nice work, and a creative domain name. But depending on whether you
pronounce it GoogleGo or GoogLEGO, you might end up hearing something from
LEGO at some point asking that you not use the LEGO brand name in your domain.
Its pretty subtle, though, so maybe they wont object - hard to say.

Maybe they wont, but since it does have to do with LEGO related stuff,
I think they might (and will) take contact.

Its very cool. I know this stinks, but I do see both either Google lawyers and
LEGO lawyers might object to the use of the name(s) in the domain.

Like I mentioned this is beta site at the moment and we have stuff planned that
I just have not had time to do yet. And one thing I have been unable to do yet
is the logo. GOOGLEGO is an acronym for Gathering Oodles & Oodles of Great LEGO©
Events, Groups and Other stuff. Thus the reason for all caps.

Much as I appreciate the idea and work you put into it, I am afraid that while
lawyers usually can be particularly imaginative when it comes to identifying
cases of brand name infringement, they can be particularly unimaginative when it
comes to believing that your certainly well-thought-of acronym was not meant
to infringe their clients brand names...
Or in plain words, Id guess they just wont buy the acronym and sit you down to
talk to you anyway.
Id just reconsider on the site name, not the concept as such ;)
Regards,
Jerry

Nice idea.
I share others concern about the trademark violations, though it is a clever
name. But, after you get past that obstacle, I think its a cool idea. How
does it compare feature-wise to what you can do on frappr.com?
