Here’s the second case design I’ve built around a mini-itx VIA EPIA 800 mainboard:

The BrickCase is entirely made of Lego bricks and uses no glue whatsoever (but does make use of several nylon washers, nuts, bolts and miniature screws) and houses a VIA EPIA 800 mainboard, hard drive and various pretty lights, currently running Redhat 7.1. The top and sides of the case can be removed for maintenance, and the mainboard is mounted to a system of Technic parts that allows the mounting points to line up properly. The hard drive is swivel mounted so that it can be positioned out of the way in order to get at the interior of the case, without having to remove or disconnect the hard drive.

(...) Cool! 100% Lego bricks! :-) (...) Oh. Not 100% Lego bricks! :-( All kidding aside, it looks pretty good. It has a much better overall look than most Lego cases I've seen on the Web. It looks like you had an idea of what it should look like (...) (20 years ago, 15-Nov-03, to lugnet.build)
