It’s unfortunate that the Animation Presentation had to be cancelled Saturday night at BrickFest. I was only able to stop in for a few minutes on Sunday on my way back home to Richmond so I did not get to see any of the showings that took place then.

For anyone else who may have missed out on the animation and is interested in checking out the entries, they are available for download via the following online directory of links:

Congratulations to Leftfield Studios for their winning entry “Aladibababad.”

The folks at BrickFilms are planning to have a DVD available of all entries so tune in to that site for more information on how to get one for yourself.

Cool, Greg...thanks. Say, would it be possible to make these available for download as MPEG or QuickTime? I don’t have Real Player(1).

If not, that’s OK; I’ll wait for the DVD.

The curse on RealPlayer has lessened. Unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't even
run a background process any more! It will only display an update message
every now and then when you run it, and even that can easily be minimized in
the settings. The Brickfilms community prefers the RealPlayer format because
it provides an excellent size/quality ratio - we believe the best available
for video with vibrant colours and sharp lines, i.e. animation (which
differs from typical video content in the lack of motion blur).

Give it a try! I don't think you'll be disappointed. But do pay attention
during install that not too many file extensions are taken over. Again, the
default options are nonagressive.

Stefan.

Todd (and others who might want to avoid RealPlayer) -

I don’t have any handy links to any of the entries that may be in other formats besides RealMedia but I know some of the producers of the entries do have them available. Depending on how dedicated you are, you could prowl through the BrickFilms “Post and Review Films” Forum to find the postings with references to HAT (High Adventure Theatre) in the subject line. Most of these are still on Page 1 of this forum. I couldn’t say how many of them do have non-RM formats available but I have seen a couple.

Or you can just wait for the DVD.

There’s now information available on the Events page at BrickFilms.com about how to pre-order the BrickFest Animation DVD that contains every contest entry (which exceeds the number of brickfilms that were actually shown at BrickFest).
