Hey:

I just made some quick and dirty scans of an Alien figure composed of Technic

hot! Hot! HOT!! this is gorgeous, richard!

the second pc even looks like an h.r. giger painting! the light catching
on the side of the all-black head reveals the elaborate plate and brick work
quite nicely. it's so great to see a creation using system, technic, and
throbot elements so fluidly!  please give us a "quick and dirty" close-uo of
the head!!  how many bricks long is it?!  the text description begs detail
shots of this beast's neck and torso workings!

flattered by your mention of my mini-fig alien, i must state for the
record, that i never would have created it in the first place, if you, my
friend, hadn't challenged, inspired, and encouraged me to do it, lo those
many moons ago. i am inspired by other people's creations every day, and it
is very touching when my models and work are a source of inspiration to
others! between you and shiri, right now, i'm downright misty-eyed!

i'm up to my kneecaps (soon to be elbows) in lego dinosaurs right now, so
who out there is up to the challenge (or suicide mission?) of a... <gulp>
full scale alien model?

  later~ craig~

Jeg tror settene lanseres i to etapper i Skandinavia i 2000.  Kanskje de
kommer i andre etappe, til høsten?  (Jeg har ingen bevis på dette, dog.
Det er bare spekulasjoner.)

Now if you could give some info how to connect them to work
the Lego
pneumatic cylinders. Presumably you would need two of the
solenoid
valves to control each Lego pneumatic cylinder to move the
piston to and
fro.

Your assessment is correct - it would take two valves for a
Lego cylinder just as it does for a fischertechnik cylinder.

Btw, the Dacta Advanced Pneumatics Set (#9633) is a good way
to get into
Lego pneumatics. It includes all the parts for an motorised
air
compressor. Also all the parts except for another motor, for
a motorised
pneumatic valve switch. So you can really compare the
mechanical Lego
pneumatic valve with the Fischertechnik electrical solenoid
valve. Do
post your findings.

My next post on this will come after receiving the kit. Its
good to hear that the mechanical valve design is in the set. I was going to
put one together myself. If you have any good ideas on how best to compare
these two systems let me know.

Michael
