Re: 2001 Racers now at shop.lego.com

(...) Well, remember that "age range" is kind of misleading. Rather than chronological age, the important one is level of development - physical, mental, and even emotional. So there may be a market for kids who are "too old" for Duplo, but who (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

(...) But I like wishing for bad things... It makes my life more fulfilled :o) I disagree with the logic here, juniorization was begun by TLC because kids have shorter attention spans for completing tasks (mostly due to the video game craze).   Re: 2001 Racers now at shop.lego.com

(...) There used to be the Freestyle/Basic 3+ sets which only had 2xY bricks and used larger doors and windows (earlier 2x4x3 windows and 2x4x5 doors and later 2x6x6 doors and windows). Then there were 5+ sets which had slightly more complex pieces. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  Re: This is scaring me...

Yeah, I think you've misunderstood just a bit. I personally think it's a great idea. Why? Well, to be honest I wouldn't use it myself, but I don't think it'll replace the new sets. Lego is looking to expand itself, not radically change suddenly. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2002, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

One thing to consider is to look what is happening to the 'e-business' companies such as Amazon.com and Etoys.com. They are not making any $$. This Christmas is the 'make or break' for them to actually turn a profit. I don't see e-commerce taking (...) (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2002, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) But think of this: there are people here who design way better technic models than Lego ever does. You could buy *those* as sets! (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2002, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

It isn't/won't. TLC will always design sets - heck, the have the SW license through 2007! The new software will be a supplement product, like Mosaic.
