This book came out copyright 1977. It's the big yellow one with animals and
Big People on the cover. Also two offspring of Lego employees recruited as
models (just kidding, I don't know anything about it.)

Anyway, I looked back at all the pages, then I noticed Susan William's
signature on the back inside cover. Not all copies have that.

So that's the trivia.

Above her signature it says "Dear Parents and Children, The word LEGO is a
special one. It's our very own brand name for the brick supplied by our
Company, LEGO Systems, Inc. Look for the name "LEGO" -- we're proud of it.
It's on every brick we make! -- Susan Williams

The Susan Williams version was seen in Lubbock, Texas about 1978. 99 cents.
"Distributed by Lego Systems, Inc., Enfield, CT 06082. C 1977 LEGO System
A/S LEGO(R) is a registered trademark of Interlego A.G."

The other copy I have is secondhand, price tag says MEMCO. It seems
identical except the inside back cover doesn't have the "Dear Parents"-Susan
Williams message. This one is "Made by LEGO System A/S, Denmark. (C) May
1977-98660."

Both copies do say insie the back cover:

"This Idea Book has lots of good building ideas, but it's really only a
beginning.

"You'll enjoy building the things you see in the book, but imagine the fun
of building things you see in your mind! LEGO is the toy that's new every
day. You'll come up with your very own inventions. In fact, you may build
things that have never been built before. Have fun.

"And if you have any questions, just write: Susan Williams, LEGO Systems,
Inc. Consumer Services Department, P.O. Box 2273, Enfield Connecticut 06082."

This secondhand copy follows it with bigger type: "LEGO...The Toy That's New
Every Day(tm)" and a red/white puffy LEGO mark where the first copy has the
"Dear Parents" note.

Both inside front covers have a lot of text (no variants) that implies this
is a U.S. version of the book. It's only the inside back cover and the
copyrights that differ.

Oh, another goody: Page 50 shows a white or gray female pigtail!
(pre-minifig but compatible.)
