The Southern California LEGO Train club (SCLTC) has
opened its fifth consecutive annual winter show at the San Diego Model Railroad
Museum (SDMRRM) in Balboa Park in San Diego.
This years show features two separate displays. The expanded Island of Sodor
layout includes Thomas the Tank Engine, Tidmouth Sheds, Wellington Station,
Gordons Hill and many other familiar characters and locales including the new
animated windmills and water-wheel powered wood shop.
The expanded contemporary city layout sports a Hard Rock Cafe, Car Museum, and
multiple skyscrapers including a version of the Crystal Towers Hotel that
previously appeared only at BrickFest/PDX in 2004
The show opened on Tuesday November 21 and will run through Friday January 19.
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays and
Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00. In addition, the musuem will be open January 15 for
MLKs birthday and the evenings of December 1 and 2 for December Nights at the
park. Admission is free for children under 15 and $6.00 for adults, but is free
for everyone on the first Tuesday of each month and during the evening hours of
December Nights.
The San Diego Model Railroad museum is the premier model railroad museum in the
country and features a number of large layouts in various gauges.
