The new home of the TCLTC is....LUGNET! That’s right; we’ve pointed our www.tcltc.org domain to our LUGNET NG page and are using it for our web site. I have seen other LTCs simply provide a link on their NG page to their web site somewhere else, but I really like this idea.

Yeah, We are far more restricted using FTX on LUGNET than HTML or Flash elsewhere, but 1) I’m not that smart to fully utilize those tools, and b) we’re basically just showing off pictures and blogging about the club activities anyway. We were using MOCpages for the past few years, and that was cool, but I was never really too excited about the integrated rating system, and now with the advertising, I thought it best to move elsewhere. I still think MOCpages is a great resource for AFOLs, though!

The site is nothing fancy, but what I really like now is that the TCLTC is intregally linked into THE AFOL community (English speaking, anyway), and our NG acts as a sort of blog that is easily accessible to AFOLs.

When René agreed to take over LUGNET, I knew that the future of LUGNET looked bright. I believe he is doing a great job. I also like the affinity to Peeron.com, as well as LDraw.org, and even 1000Steine.com (The Brickshelf.com connection for us goes without saying!). LUGNET is an amazing resource for AFOLs, and I am glad to be a part of it.

So swing on by and see what we’ve done, and provide a little feedback if you wish. We haven’t completed the switchover yet, but it’s mostly in place.

Thanks for stopping by!

JOHN

Great idea! Not only will that keep your LUG site updated, it will also make it a lot easier to get in touch or ask a question. Also nice to see your faith in the mother LUG- Lugnet.
