This is so cool. I love to hear stories like this. If TLG is really reading
these posts this must prove that LEGO trains are a viable alternative to more
traditional "TOY TRAINS"

I went to the Fresno Model Railroad club meeting last night and brought some
LEGO train stuff.  I figured one or two people might want to see one, but
that most would not be interested.

Ha ha ha, how wrong I was.  There were about 25-30 people there and about
half were very interested.  I brought a copy of Larry P's black hopper car,
his hydrogen car, Steve Barille's (sp?) UP Loco, a Swiss Railway Loco from
the Metroliner, two blue hopper cars and my Santa Fe Warbonnet loco.  People
loved them.  The most comments were on the hydrogen car, which everyone
called a helium car.  People loved it.  (Good job, Lar.  It was a bigger hit
than the hopper, though.)

Many people were wondering the cost, sets available, etc.  I think that they
might be looking at using them as gifts for children.  It was nice to see
them really intrigued by how they work.  I said they could rip them apart if
they wanted, but nobody did.

Anyway, I mentioned the layout I was making for the NMRA show.  One lady was
there who told me about this huge layout in Minn/St. Paul that had people
around it two deep the whole time.  She was impressed.  Way to go, GMLTC!

One of the guys said they could get me some space next to them at the Fresno
Fair for displaying my layout.  Not this year, but next, I plan to take them
up on it.  By then, the layout should be good enough to make a favorable
impression with the General Public.

When I left, several people had made it a point to ask if I was going to be
coming back.  I will probably go there every couple of weeks and bring some
creation with me every time.

Also, there was a little kid who was giving me advice on where to get orange
bricks.  (I mentioned I wanted to build the daylight express, but didn't
have enough orange).  That kid would have a heart attack if he saw my LEGO
room.  Oh, and people said they wanted to see my layout when I get done.  I
better make an impressive layout.
