Bit too juniorized for my taste; it kinda fits into the same idea
as the Harry Potter trains.  The carriages are very short,
which is a reasonable concession to the target age and the
cartoon aspect of this, but I think it would look very
out of place alongside other Lego trains, even though normally
have scale compression in length.

If I see it somewhere cheap by Xmas I might get it for my
son, but it's not something I'd get for myself (although
I do have about 1/2 the Lego trains since 1980).

Hi,

agreed on toyish appearance, but hey - this IS from a cartoonish source - hence
it is perfectly fitting the theme. And that is no city and minifig style theme,
so one can't expect this to be a train for a "regular" LEGO train layout.

I certainly will buy it for the parts. Red drivers (4pc + 2 extra blinds are
included, since the mould + package is the one from Emerald) are a must have for
a German steam engine (mostly in black boiler and red under-carriage). Then
there are green windows, fright car doors and a couple of further nice parts.

Ok, it is still blay, but after 6 years this can't be the reason not to buy
it.....

Leg Godt,

Ben

(...) Bingo. Art imitating art imitating life is going to be prototypically toyish, and therefore perfect as a "toy." This is one set that I wouldn't mind running unaltered on our layout. And greetings to you, Ben! JOHN (15 years ago, 18-May-10, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
