I agree with you about the doors. On the prototype the large door in the front car is for the railway post office. It is a sliding door and is just slightly indented. The passenger doors are flush and open outward. I tried it with the doors flush and things seemed too flat. I tried to do a very slight indent, but I could not get one I liked that was “structuraly sound”, so I went with the half stud offset. I may revisit the doors later.
