This is A Dutch locomotive, build by Joep Klazen, who is just started to make all of his Dutch-Trains in 8-wide, this is his 8-wide version of the Dutch 1851, this is his first experience building with 8-wide. He likes it (both the loco as the 8wide) very much.

Hi Joep,

Seems that trains is very busy with new posts at the moment. I am curious why you decided to change to eight-wide. It seems to me that this train is not gaining anything much from it but perhaps you see future trains as having greater potential in eight-wide. Of course I am a fairly strict six/seven-wider so might be biased ;)

I have seen a lot of your train designs for a while and you seem to have a very good sense of structure and shape but perhaps lack a little in the texturing and details.

For some constructive criticism, I would recommend working on your pantograph designs and adding a bit more texture to the sides of your models. I would also recommend fleshing out the roof details a bit more. It is something I’ve had to learn and really adds a lot of character to a train.

Overall you make very good work and lots of it which is cool.

Hope this has been of some benefit to you...

Tim

(...) I think that, yes, your bias is clouding your judgment, because it is obviously clear why he went 8 wide to model this train-- because he totally nails the look and feel of the proto by doing it. Compare it to his 6 wide version. There is no (...) (19 years ago, 27-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
