  modding the new IR trains
 
Hey all, Well there has been quite a bit of talk about modifying the yet to be released IR trains so i figured it might be a good idea to consolidate them into one thread. Here’s a little rundown of what I remember as well as my X-ACTO knife (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Hi Ondrew, I can make a comment on two related posts here. (...) As I see it 4) and 7) are related since for me they both solve the same problem which is this: seven-wide trains are pretty much ruined by the 6x30 baseplate. Basically it's very (...) (...) (SNIP) (...) (SNIP) (...) (SNIP) (...) I'd like to do a combination of 2, 4 and 7. Take the batteries out, put them in a 4x14 battery box. Use a 9V lead cut in half to connect this to the electronics. Cover over the button of the wrong (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

I believe that there is a rather large battery box cavity in the interior of the engine above the base plate. Whats nice is that you get to this cavity via the bottom of the train thru the hanging tank. So you have the 6x8 "tank" below, the IR (...)
