Did you have the drawings to help you build the engine? I see from the Model Railroader diesels book that an FL9 is 59ft long and 9ft 10ins wide, so in 8-wide perhaps it could be 48 studs long. Would it go round the curves OK with the extra length or would you have to put straights between the curves as I do? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1150144

Hi,

Thanks for your compliments ! That makes me feel very happy.

To build the model, I used pictures found on Internet and a drawing found in a modelist magazine.

You’re right, my loco is 8 studs wide and 39 studs long. I know it’s shorter than it should be, but I reduced the model to resolve the curve problem. As you can see in my galery, the loco doesn’t exceed too much the rails in a normal curve. It looks ok in a normal curve. But maybe you can build it in 48 studs longs, if you use your type of curve.

BTW, there’s a light connected to the motor in the big front headlight.

PS: sorry for the delay, I tried to post this reply few days ago, but it didn’t work and I lost my message (I really don’t find this forum easy to use :-(). Maybe it’s because I tried to post with a different browser than the one I used to register ?

(...) Yes, I ran into this at first as well, as I use several browsers on different machines. But once you get posting permission on a machine you should be fine. The engine looks great by the way. Mat (19 years ago, 13-Apr-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
