Re: Motorizing 9V switch points (translation from french)

(...) Well, like many others, I was completely inspired by this site. I built a controller, put it on my layout and loved it. The only issue I had was that the smallest 9V controller was still too big for one part of my layout--the larger cars and (...) (21 years ago, 14-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Train shells on trailers

Hi everyone, I was sitting here and remembered about this, so thought I'd share it, but anyways; not sure how common this is, but twice now I've seen the unpainted tan shell of a GP- or SD- esque unit (just the long hood) ride by on the bed of a (...) (21 years ago, 14-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Pushing it... 3 more 8 wide trains

(...) John has a point hear. Why limit yourself to 6 wide when you can do so much more with 8. Hell, why not 9 wide. It gives you more room for the little details and also makes it possible to make the main part of most modern engines 6 wide which (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pushing it... 3 more 8 wide trains

(...) Really wanna depress me? ....;-) What point would there be to that? JOHN (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Pushing it... 3 more 8 wide trains

(...) Well, 8wide is "not so much" for me but I think these have captured their respective prototypes pretty well. I especially liked the MK and the Baldwin as they haven't been done so much as ALCO RS units have. Thanks for sharing. Really wanna (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorizing 9V switch points (translation from french)

(...) Hi James, You are right there is no absolute need to use a modified switch point with your drive mechanism. The story is that I tested it with a new switch point and an old 71427 motor quite used. The system went to some problem of torque (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Motorizing 9V switch points (translation from french)

(...) Hello Manfred, I was finally able to get a micromotor to test this solution. Thank you for the pointer. It is quite difficult to find micromotors around here (in France). And it seems impossible to buy from Pistco/Dacta for French import, at (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorizing 9V switch points (translation from french)

(...) Hi Ed, I went on testing your proposal. It works so fine, I planned to introduce Amaury Jacquot's modification of Chris Alano's mechanism you use to reduce a little bit the footprint (expecially the width) of the power unit. You will see that (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Hi Mark, It is cute :-) and thank you for your encouraging comment. Cheers, Philippe. (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Rare parts: Small switch yard engine

Sorry for bringing up an old topic again, (...) The rare trainbase seems to be the prototype for the trainbase, which is listed as x902c01 on peeron. Recently I received two of these parts and I have just finished an LDraw part, posted in message (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)
