There is no perfect solution because the square root of 2 is not a rational
number.

HOWEVER there are some that are quite close.. within a stud or two both
horizontally and vertically)

Try this (using track designer which you can get using info in the header of
lugnet.trains if you don't have it already)

- start a track horizontally (going left, say).
- Put a switch up then a quick reverse curve so now you have two parrallel
horizontals at normal spacing.
- take the bottom one about 8-10 tracks farther to the left.
- now loop it upwards 4 sections till you are going vertically
- go one section straight vertical
- now loop around 6 sections till you form a 45 (that is, go 135 degrees of
circle)
- go 5 diagonally down (I think it's 5)
- go 2 curves in the other direction.
- go straight to the right and you sholud find you are pretty darn close to the
same point.

it's close enough that I think Track Designer thinks it's a shorted reversing
loop. (no actually it doesn't so...)

Hope that helps.

There is a website somewhere that has some of these saved and displayed. if
anyone knows it, I'll put it in the header of lugnet.trains
