No. We cut it from large sheets of 3/8" plexiglass. We used plexiglass
rather than wood so you can see the train much better. Our son can see it
from his bed looking through the shelves. We started with the corners, and
worked towards the middle. We used exactly 100 pieces of straight track, and
16 curved pieces. In the corners, I plan to erect some small structures, and
behind the train, there is potentially room for a monorail. As soon as I
have 50 spare long monorial straights, I'll build that.
