Using the responses, I've been able to check out the sets on Brickshelf; I'm not surprised I missed them first time round! Judging by the lack of other train related pieces in the box, I guess they are likely to have been sold as the single items (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

I got mine yesterday, knew I was going to be very happy, right from seeing the beautiful box art (was expecting the half-disappointing black & white/gray "legends" style). Enjoyed putting it together - but the real seal of approval came from my 4 (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.trains)

You may be correct, as I really have never seen or studied the systems of which we are referring. My aspects were only mere assumption. I base my hypothesis on a bit of history from the Edison era. In his thriving days of supplying power to the (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)
