I made one with an RCX and my custom light sensors (They act as touch sensors
and don't need to be calibrated. They also need a light on the other side of the
track). When the train comes in it's set to normal. Then when the train is in
the loop it reverses the polarity of the rest of the track and off it goes. Then
when it comes back it just toggles the direction on the other track. Since the
switch track is always set one way the polarity of the loop is always the same
and it's just the rest of the track that needs switching.
What I really want to do now is DCC. Since track power then doesn't matter...
