  Rip off of Playmobil?
 
While thinking about Playmobil vs. Lego trains I took another look at the Playmobil catalogue and I was rather startled. Take a look at.... (URL) then compare it to... (URL) a rip off!! [1] I hadn't noticed the similarity before. I'm assuming that (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) think, (...) I don't think anyone here is going to argue that Lego isn't the coolest construction system, that's why we all love it. And we all know that Playmobil isn't a construction system at all [1]. But that wasn't the point of my (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

Not to start a "mine's bigger than yours" war or anything but... I built a UP EMD DDA40X a while back (which was, I believe, the longest loco ever built at 98'5") which was 70 studs long and could take turns (but with no articulation). Sadly, it has (...)   New pictures of 700, Potential challenge to big red
 
Finally, (Thanks to Steve) some new, cleaner pictures are up on the PNLTC webpage of my SPS 700 4-8-4 Steam Engine. (URL) was browsing Larry's designs and he seemed to note that Big Red was the longest non-articulated engine around. Hmmm, perhaps (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)
 
  5 Unit articulated container car
 
As promised... Tail end of Containers page now has a few snaps of my 5 unit articulated container car. This baby is huge. This one car goes all the way around a semi circle of track with some spillover. 12 axles, 6 bogies/trucks, 10 articulation (...) (26 years ago, 6-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)
