  modding the new IR trains

Hey all, Well there has been quite a bit of talk about modifying the yet to be released IR trains so i figured it might be a good idea to consolidate them into one thread. Here’s a little rundown of what I remember as well as my X-ACTO knife (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

(...) Well, until I buy one and dig into it, I am not going to know how much space there is within the housing. I like RF 'cos it works out of line of sight. As far as different sub-carrier frequencies for IR, there are a number between 25KHz and (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

(...) how difficult do you think it's going to be to convert from IR to RC? this is one of the many things i wouldn't mind trying but i honestly hadn't thought of it before your post. another option is to somehow offset the frequency that the IR (...)   Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

(...) I cracked the Manas codes in ten minutes with a photodiode and an oscilloscope. Turned out they were very easy to transmit from the RCX. I suppose TLG could go to the trouble of inventing an entirely new scheme, but why? The only scary thing (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: NXT external power?

(...) Look here at picture NXT5. (URL) will see a power entry panel blank coming up from the battery compartment cover plate. It seems possible that an alternate cover might actually contain either a rechargeable battery pack, A/C power supply or (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Thomas Burger and part 6567

(...) I have had a reply from Thomas so this part (2x6x2 Train window) is now in the LDraw tracker. (URL) have a look and let me know your thoughts. Thanks (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.trains)

Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

(...) The problem you're gonna find is that the RCX can only point in 1 direction at once. Unless you have many spaced around your layout, you're not gonna be able to control the trains at every point on the layout. That may not be a problem - if (...)
