You mention that there is no room for a driver, I reckon if you replace the 1x4 clack tile in step 8 of (URL) 16> with a plate you could attach the top half for a fig to it (they might have to be bald tho'!) | (...) Complicated --- hrm. I was a child in the 80's and absolutely loved those. They certainly weren't too complicated - and remember that they were provided with the same kind of instructions (excellent, that is) as other Lego sets. If (...) (19 years ago, 20-May-05, to lugnet.trains)

Since you're cutting metal, something with fine teeth seems needed, perhaps a hacksaw... not sure how you would cut just the metal without cutting into the plastic unless you (...)
