I went into a toy store today to see if there was anything interesting. I rarely
buy LEGO nowadays, thanks to Town jr, bley, declining quality of set designs and
whatnot, but I like to check it out from time to time.
I saw these two sets, and just had to buy them, right away. For those who don't
know which sets they are, it's an ambulance and a yellow airport fire truck.
From the box, they looked awesome, a definite step away from juniorization. When
I got home and built them, I kept saying "Yes, yes!" all the time - these are
some of the best sets (not counting the Designer sets) released in a *long*
time.
Brief review:
New, interesting pieces, particularly the mudguards. The vehicles are 6-wide,
and like a cross between Town jr and the town of -91 - beefy, but detailed. The
fire truck has a fire extinguisher, an axe and a walkie-talkie. The ambulance
has some sort of scanner, and one of those things they have in ER (the TV show)
- a green ballon with a face mask you place over the patient, then squeeze the
balloon to give him air. At least I think that's what it is - it's a trans green
1*1 cylinder with a light grey tap on top.
I really hope this will mark the return of more pieces and better design. LEGO
is definitely on the right track with these.
