Very nice, and intersting that you would choose Playmobile as a model for
something to build out of Lego. I picked up a playmobile catalog about a month
ago and overall, it is everything that Lego _should_ be and isn't.
- They have a wide variety of themes that continue for years
- All minifigures are happy, even the "Evil Knight"
- The RC motors are interchangable so one RC motor can power a variety of
different sets
- They sell a wide range of spare parts, including animals, people, fences,
trees, and even whole buildings, in inexpensive plastic bags
- They have a wide range of small sets with a minifigure with accessories - why
doesn't Lego do that?
- Most items naturally appeal to girls and boys, not exclusively girls or
exclusively boys.
- They are not afraid of expensive sets designed to last for years
- They have small sets that go with the big sets to make them better
- They know that good stuff continues to sell. With few updates the same pirate
ship I had as a kid is available today, 25 years later.
- The buildings interconnect they wa classic castle or town used to, and they
can be electrified by an add-on light set.
- They have a nice, thick and free catalog available in toy stores for anyone to
grab and drool over - grab one and drool over it!
Lego, take a lesson!!!! Pick up a Playmobile catalog and build it in Lego.
Thank you Thomas for doing just that - and I think I will be inspired to do the
same.
-Matt :)

| Matt, I could not agree with you more on this point. I have the past three Playmobil catalogs and they are a fantastic source of inspiration. Playmobil puts out a product line that really resembles LEGO of the late 80's & 90's. Strong themes and (...) (19 years ago, 25-Aug-05, to lugnet.town)
