They are vacuum-formed baseplates, just like the Large Green Baseplate and
Extra-Large Grey Baseplate. The road surface is painted on a studless section.

32 studs per side, just like the Large Green Baseplate.

The only other significantly different shapes that I'm aware of are a
service/raceway plate that has a partial third lane on one side (like a pit
stop), and a roughly circular or octagonal landing pad with 9-wide shoulders
that are somewhat triangular in shape. There are basic road baseplates that
have shoulder/sidewalk sections that are 6-wide, 7-wide, 8-wide, and 9-wide
depending on how big you want your lanes. Beyond that, it's all just
plastic/paint color variations (unless you want the DUPLO roadplate...). The
ones that are currently being sold are 6-stud shoulders, with dark-grey paint on
green baseplates. You can check out images of nearly every type here:

| Hi, I have a couple of questions about road tiles: 1) Are these baseplates, or do they attach to other peices/baseplates - in other words, do they have flat undersides? 2) What dimensions (in bumps, preferably) are these peices? 32 bumpers per side (...) (21 years ago, 6-Mar-04, to lugnet.town)
