I have building up my Town layout a lot lately and am planning to construct a
building with an outdoor sidewalk market.  Since I am much better at COPYING
ideas from what others have built, the logical thing to do is to ask here if
anyone has done something similar and have good pictures of the result.
I expect to spend some time pirating pictures from Brickshelf, but would
appreciate some starting points.  Please post URL's here or to me via email.

Here is my plan so far:
The building should look like a 1920's or 30's urban apartment building.  I am
thinking a 3 or 4 story walk-up would look nice.  The green grocer/market will
be on the street level and be an open-air market with just a simple roof.

My color scheme will be White with Yellow trim and details including arches,
doors, windows, fences, cornice, etc.  The main roof will be either Brown or
regular Green as I have been amassing these colors for this project.  The size
will be about 18 studs by 36 studs.

The building is slated for a corner lot.  The backside will be blank -- flush
with the back of other buildings or perhaps I will leave an alley.

On one short side will be a newsstand.  I have no idea what this will look like
but that should not be hard to design.  Decorated tiles will serve as the books
and magazines.  The front of the building will have the green grocer market.
The other short side will be blank and adjacent to another building.

The building around the corner is Sand Red with White details.  The building on
the opposite side has not been planned, but will probably be Green or Red and
be a similar style to this one (an old 4-story walk-up apartment building).

I am open to all ideas, but mostly I am after pictures of what others have
already done.  Thanks in advance for your help.

(...) email. Hi Kevin, I've done an Open Air Market (which was previously available as a kit but is now out of production). Pictures are here: (URL) included a snack bar and a small sitting area as well as the market stalls. Kevin Wilson ---...--- (...) (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.town)
