The studs-out 6x plates form the top of an I-beam that's made of 3 stacked 2x
plates between 6x plates, kinda like this...

The windows are sandwiched between the 6x's on one side of the I-beam, and the
other side slides into a track made of 1x bricks, the bottom of which can be
seen in the "behind-the-diamond-windows" picture...
