If you look really closely at the car chassis it appears to use this axel
plate: http://www.lugnet.com/cad/ldraw/parts/ref/images/6157.gif
My guess is that it is not a one piece chassis (yeah!).

| (...) Exactly what I was thinking. My catalog just came in today, and this was one thing I looked for. The car is a little cheesy, but I don't think it is the main focus of the set anyway. P.S.
