I made some great alternates for #6564 Recycle Truck, honestly!

Last night we discussed how Lego garbage trucks were fast becoming garbage
themselves. I was playing with my 6564 today, and I actually managed to build
stuff with it! Including a non-vehicle! Here are three models I came up with-
6564 Street Washer
I really like this model. I removed the hood with the printed lights, the side
of the cab (the unopenable doors), and the windshield. I moved the 3 brick
tall slanty piece from the back of the truck, and put it on the front. I only
attached the back of it to the vehicle, and let the front hang over. Then I
attached the windshield under the slanty blue piece, so that it is just slighly
above the ground. It looks like where the water would come from the street
washer. I used the lights piece and the two 1x4 blue bricks to modify the back
half as a place to put things he might come across on the road. And there it
is, a decent alternate for 6564.
6564 Junkyard Racer
This one turned out okay. I removed the windshield and the steering wheel, and
moved the 1x4 bricks inwards to cover the inner two studs. I replaced the
windshield at the end of the bricks, and removed the two window box pieces to
make room for the driver. I turned the slanty window box around. I removed
the middle wheel set, but put the axle on top of the 1x4 bricks on the hood.
Elements not used in the vehicle were used to define the race track, because
after all this is a Junkyard Racer.
6564 Wheel Factory
Expanding upon the city's recycling program, I built this small structure. The
window box aparatus is placed sideways on the base, with the 1x4 bricks (useful
little things) supporting it at the front. Th two black 1x1 cylinders form a
small smokestack on top. On one side is the worker's control panel, which is
made from the lights, the steering wheel, and the trans yellow clyinder. The
steering wheel is to control the tires coming through the chute. If a
defective tire is released, there are garbage cans on the other side. Great
small model.
So, in conclusion, it is not a worthless set. I am in fact bumping my rating
up from C+ to B. It is because Town Jr. has such a bad reputation that we do
not spend time trying to play with them. It is actually a very interesting
challenge to find good alternate with all of those specialised parts.
Besides, I don't consider 6564 true Town Jr., more like Town Transitional.
True Jr. is the 2000 sets, with the hideous ages 5-8 logo. (6564, and other
'98-'99 town sets is 5-10, which for some reason I can live with) So if you've
accidentally acquired some Town Jr.s, challenge yourself to play with them!
