Those of you who frequent this corner of LUGNET might have heard of me
before, but I'm Purple Dave, I run MaskofDestiny.com, and I'm a bit of a
Bioniholic. Why did I wait so long to start participating here? Well, the
truth is I didn't, once I found out that you don't have to be a member to
post. I've noticed a lot of anti-Bionicle rhetoric tossed around LUGNET,
and I wasn't too keen on the idea of actually having to pay money to have
some of that aimed directly at me. I'm willing to see how well I can
tolerate it if it's free, however. ;)
My LEGO experience goes all the way back to the last days of
unarticulated minifigs and the giant head-and-shoulders-with-bendy-arms
people, spent a number of years concentrating largely on Space and Castle
(my faves were the real Blacktron and the Robin Hood Guys), never really hit
these rumored "dark ages" (there were a few years in high school where I
didn't get any new sets, but the collection did still see some action during
that time), and eventually concentrated almost exclusively on the new Star
Wars sets. I did some freelance SW LEGO reviews for Rebelscum.com until
Bionicle was introduced, and then Philip set me up with my own news site.
Other interests include customizing Star Wars action figures, keeping a
couple fishtanks (yes, they're decorated with LEGO), and collecting the odd
Gonzo or Marvin item. And watching Babylon 5 and Futurama. I also used to
do technical theatre (lighting design, scenic construction) during my
college years. My MOCs (as well as my SW customs) tend towards the weird.
Questions, comments, expensive gifts that start with "P" and end with
