My apologies if this has been posted before.
I'm not much of a Bionicle fan, but every now and then I check them out when
I'm looking at other LEGO. I've bought a few different Bionicle sets and
several mask packs for my younger brother (who loves them and also happens
to be in the target age group).
Anyway, every time I would go to buy a mask pack, the box was already open!
What really annoyed me is that at Walmart and Toys R Us, the boxes would be
nicely stacked on the shelf and out of 50 packs, maybe only 3 or 4 weren't
open. It was obvious that the stores knew people were opening them, but it
seems that they didn't care. People wouldn't tear the box open all of the
way, they would just push the perforated thumb tab in so they could see what
was inside and then not buy it if they already had it.
The other day I was looking at the LEGO shelf at Walmart with my non-LEGO
gf, when I spotted the new mask packs and showed them to her. I hadn't
noticed, but she quickly pointed out that they no longer have the perforated
spot, and not a single one was open. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
Bravo LEGO.
I just felt like I needed to get this out of my system.

| (...) Yeah, that's been noted before. The non-perforated boxes started appearing a while ago, although the perforated ones are still around. Personally, I don't support the opening of boxes that are on the shelf, but that doesn't stop me from taking (...) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)
