Now, this is the cause of my shock and amazement:
This model has the largest part ever made in lego!
Take a look at the parts holding the wheels on.
they are "J" beams. 1/3 of the diameter (maybe less!) of the wheel.
J beams are 7cm/10studs long!!! THESE WHEELS HAVE A DIAMETER OF
21cm/30studs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
eep...oorg...aiee...

I saw this picture the other day, but I didn't look all that closely and
didn't realise it was technic scale. Those wheels are fairly large, although
the actual size is difficult to guage from that angle.

csues em whlie I revocer...

also, they are roughly 1/4 of the width of the wheel-
that makes the wheels 4 studs, or 3cm, wide!
They're gears, Jim, but not as we know 'em.

Actually if you look at the mounting frame at the front of the wheel I'd say
it's more like three studs wide. The outer tread pitch is much larger than a
standard technic gear. However if you look to the rear of the right hand
wheel, it looks like there are standard teeth running around the inside of
the wheel, which opens up some interesting possibilities.

The impression I get having now looked at this model closely is 'Star Wars
Bionicle' (but bionicle in a good way - if that's possible)

Can someone please tell me that these wheels are not that big, that my eyes
are deceiving me?!?!?!?!

I think that you could be fairly close in your estimate. Quoits anyone?

(...) Interesting, allright! I'm thinking, Supersize turntables, here we come!!! (you can see, on the right hand rear support, that a 14t gear is used to drive the wheel (or maybe the wheel drives it...) (...) Same thought I got when I looked at the (...)
