Re: converting 8880 4 wheel drive to regular hubs

(...) I haven't tried this myself, but here's a conversion courtesy of Jeff Boen: <URL:(URL) If it works the way it looks like, you may be able to retain all the functions of the 8880 suspension for normal wheels. The wheels will be offset more, (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

Wow Fredrik, that could be just what I'm looking for too! So the question is, how much does it increase the offset and how much dish is there in a Power Puller wheel? Lawrence, if this works I'll have four wheels off you if you have any left. Psi (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: converting 8880 4 wheel drive to regular hubs

(...) I don't think I understand how using six wheels is going to help you here. The problem with the friction and steering will be present also when using six wheels. Perhaps you will find the problem even more severe, as there are four wheels (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: converting 8880 4 wheel drive to regular hubs

(...) Or go one better by using one motor per wheel like LeTourneau's Electric Wheel: (URL) planetary hub reduction could be tricky though :-) Jennifer Clark (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: converting 8880 4 wheel drive to regular hubs

(...) Ah, I see! I've had the same problem myself. I once made a truck using the 8880 wheels. It had three axles, and only the front one had steering. It was very hard to steer the thing because of the twin rear axles. My solution was to make the (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)
