A guy in one of my programming classes brought this book in to class a while
back and I borrowed it and loved it. It's super cheap and I found it on
Amazon.com for like, $6.
It's called "Basic Machines and how they work" and it's "Prepared by the
Naval Education and Training Program Development Center"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0486217094/o/qid=983071197/sr=8-1/ref
=aps_sr_b_1_1/107-4119923-0350914
It's really cool and gives great descriptions and explanations of basic
machines and machine elements...GREAT for reading and then going and
building in lego...I've been able to build just about every little example
just about in there...
Here's a quick rundown of the chapters:
Levers
Block and Tackle
The Wheel and Axle
The Inclined Plane and Wedge
The Screw
Gears
Work
Power
Force and Pressure
Hydrostatic and Hydraulic Machines
Machine Elements and Basic Mechanisms
Internal Combustion Engine
Power Trains
Anyway, I thought it was fantastic and anyone who's into technic, or
building mechanisms would be into it...
Have fun and build on!
Jeff
