The search sub (8250 or 8299 I think) was on sale for a long time for $25.
You can still find them on ebay, but remember that that was what they were
purchased for.
They are a good intro to pneumatics if you want the basics - pump, cylinder
valve and air tank. Plus, of course, there's lots of handy yellow technic beams
and stuff too!
