CV joint compatibility question

Just had a question on the "CV joints" that are used on the 8880 Super Car;
is there a way to affix them to wheels other than the wheels that come with
this set? The 8880 wheels have a little slot that allows the joint to fit
neatly in place, but I haven't found any other wheels that also have this
indentation for a CV joint. Is there a way to connect the CV joints to
wheels using standard axles rather than the special slot?
