There is a good section about gearboxes on http://www.howstuffworks.com/ ,
which should shed some light on the matter. It turns out that the 8448
gearbox is very similar to that in a real car, apart from not having synchros,
although as someone has pointed out to me before, not all real cars have
synchros...

| Yep. The main difference is that in a car gearbox, the slip rings are generally all on the same shaft, mad possible by the vastly larger selection of gear wheel sizes in "real life" 8?) ROSCO (...) (24 years ago, 16-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
